Leaving the Pōhutukawa Coast, the ‘back way’  is how long-term local residents refer to the Pacific Coast Highway leading to the  Coromandel Peninsula.  Following the Highway you travel down the Seabird Coast to Miranda, perhaps stopping to visit the bird sanctuary and the hot springs before continuing your journey around to Thames and  the spectacular Peninsula.
